Ballina Costume Hire is based in Ballina, Co. Mayo, specialising in period costumes and fancy dress,
both for hire and sales. They boast an impressive catalogue of costumes and hire clothing and they
recently felt that they could boost both their profile and sales through building an e-commerce
website, which would allow them to accommodate a much more extensive market. In order to create
an e-commerce site they needed to create a catalogue of photography, showcasing their product
range to its best advantage.
With that in mind they approached us here at Shutter Fever in Charlestown, Co. Mayo to see if we
could help with the costume photography.

Experience ecommerce solutions

The Commercial photographer vast experience in product photography, both for
print and e-commerce so we were happy to chat to them about their requirements. Due to the high
volume of product to be photographed, we all agreed that an on-location shoot was the best solution,
as it was important to have a set-up which would best accommodate photographing such a high
amount of product in an efficient manner.

Creative Photography

Creative posing was important to the client as they wanted the website and imagery to be as
engaging and interesting as possible to the viewers. By using various lighting techniques, various
poses and clever background colour, we managed to create imagery which was vibrant and
engaging, whilst still showcasing the products to their optimum effect. Working with such interesting
and colourful costumes, it was a very enjoyable shoot, as each piece was a statement in itself.

Online Retail

Our end product was a professional photo shoot that delivered the full range of photography the client
required. We kept the imagery very consistent using complementary background colours and lighting
so that all the product shots sat well side by side or as stand-alone images. The client was delighted
to be provided with such a clean catalogue of photography and the images were perfect for use in
various mediums e.g. print, marketing or e-commerce. We really enjoyed the shoot and we look
forward to helping them with their next photography project!
